Quidi Vidi Brewery


Another big change for Quidi Vidi is the release of TWO new beer; the Calm Tom Double IPA and the Mad Tom Belgian Ale. The Calm Tom Double IPA is a balanced and well-rounded west coast IPA with hints of peaches and mangos and the Mad Tom is a dark Belgian Ale that comes in at a whopping 8.4% ABV. Both brews are available at a few downtown spots like Jack Axes and Christian's Pub, and they will be coming to an NLC near you within the week.

Yellowbelly Brewery


Yellowbelly has just released a session pale ale. Head brewery, Liam McKenna says that the their Winter Session Ale is brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and Topaz hops at every stage. Double dry hopped. Deep grapefruit herbaceousness. Exceptionally long in the finish. More malt forward than Sheila Na'Geira. As a session, it weighs in at only 4.6% ABV but mind yerselves... it's a moreish crusher. Newfoundland Cider Company


Yesterday saw the launch of the Newfoundland Cider Company at select NLC locations in #YYT and at the Fifth Ticket. They have released two ciders in their first run: Forager is a Barrel aged Cider using a blend of wild apples harvested along the sea front of George's Brook/Milton, Newfoundland and aged two years in oak whiskey barrels. Produced in Milton, NL. The Old Tilt is their sweeter offering that has been barrel aged for 3 months, so less whiskey on the nose with this one.

Port Rexton Brewing Co. released a new can at their Retail Shop on Torbay Road. The Sweater Weather DIPA (7.6%, 90 IBUs) is a S.M.A.S.H. (Single Hop and Single Malt) dry-hopped double IPA, made with Canadian 2-Row malt and loads of Simcoe hops, resulting in mega pine-meets-citrusy flavours and aromas, that is well-balanced to give a pleasantly smooth finish.
