FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE THERE ANY IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE GOING ON A TOUR?
If you are purchasing tickets for either the Ultimate Townie Brew Tour, Hoppy Highlights or Axes & Ales Tour, you will need to wear closed-toed shoes. We will be visiting working breweries (and/or throwing axes!) so we need to protect your toes! We will email you a reminder about this a week before your scheduled tour, but please note that we cannot guarantee you entrance to certain breweries or Jack Axes if you do not read the notice or don’t remember.
WHERE DO THE TOURS START?
Both the Ultimate Townie Brew Tour and Hoppy Highlights Tours begin at Yellowbelly Brewery, located at 288 Water Street. The Scuff & Scoff Tour will start at the Quidi Vidi Plantation located at 10 Maple View Rd in Quidi Vidi Village. The Axes & Ales tour will start at Jack Axes on 152 Water Street. All locations are in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
WHEN SHOULD WE ARRIVE FOR THE TOUR?
We recommend getting to the start location 10-15 minutes before the start of the tour. All tours start promptly at the advertised time and we cannot stick around for late arrivals.
IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?
We highly recommend walking to the start location or getting a cab as we do not condone drinking and driving and we will not serve patrons who plan to do so. BUT, If you have a designated driver in your party or have other arrangement, here’s parking details for the area:
- DOWNTOWN: There’s a number of metered parking spaces in downtown St. John’s. They are free between 6pm on Friday and 8am Monday morning. There are also a number of parking lots that offer free parking on the weekends. Check out the following map for more details.
- QUIDI VIDI: There is no metered parking in Quidi Vidi, but there are a handful of spaces available at Quidi Vidi Brewery or the surrounding area. But parking is very limited as spaces are reserved for customers of Mallard Cottage, villagers and roads are very narrow.
HOW CAN I BUY TICKETS TO A TOUR?
We sell all our tickets online through our booking calendar. Payment can be made through PAYPAL, which gives you the option to pay via any major credit card or interac debit card. You do not need a PayPal account to order tickets. You can choose to input credit card details manually. To purchase via debit card, you must have a PayPal account.
CAN I PURCHASE TICKETS DIRECTLY FROM THE TOUR GUIDE?
We are currently in the process of setting up a service that will allow you to pay if you book at the beginning of the tour. Currently, you are only able to book online in advance.
As spaces are very limited on each tour and some tours are only offered once a week, we recommend purchasing tickets as soon as you can to guarantee you get the date you want.
DO YOU ORGANIZE PRIVATE TOURS OR ALLOW BACHELOR/ETTE PARTIES?
Absolutely! A beer tour has to be the coolest outing for friends. Getting hitched? Celebrating a birthday? Parallel park well after years of messing it up? We’ll help you celebrate! If you’d like to organize a private tour, please contact us at least two weeks in advance and we’ll start chatting. After two weeks? You can still get in touch and we can discuss what options might be available for you!
DO YOU OPERATE A WAITLIST FOR TOURS THAT ARE SOLD OUT?
Feel free to email us using the “INQUIRE BEFORE BUYING” button on the event listing if you’d like to find out more about a sold out tour. Chances are, if there’s enough interest, we can add on another tour, so it doesn’t hurt to ask!
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
FOR BEER TOURS
If you need to cancel your tour for any reason please notify St. John’s Beer Tours as soon as possible by phone (709)700-1305 or email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Our cancellation and refund policy is as follows:
- between 0 (day of tour) and 7 days before the tour: no refund or exchange.
- 8 -14 days before the tour: 50% of the tour price paid per person
- 15 days or more before the tour: 100% of the tour price paid per person less non-refundable processing fee of 5%
We cannot refund service charges.
We can only offer a ticket exchange for another date 7 days or more before the tour. Essentially, we can’t cancel your tickets if this means we no longer meet the minimum operating number – that would result in us having to cancel the tour for other guests.
Tickets can be transferred into someone else’s name but 48hrs notice or more is required.
We cannot offer an exchange if another tour is sold out.
FOR SPEED DATING EVENTS If you need to cancel your speed dating event registration, please send us an e-mail at email@example.com. Title your e-mail “Cancellation” and in the body of the e-mail, give us your first and last name and specify what event you are cancelling. To receive a refund (minus PayPal fees), please cancel at least 5 business days prior before the event. We are unfortunately not able to give you a refund if: • you do not cancel five business days prior to the event. • you do not make it out to the event. • you are so late that the event itself has already started.
DO YOU HAVE AN OFFICE WHERE WE CAN COME BY TO ASK QUESTIONS?
We’re starting off things kinda small, so we’re kicking it up on Harvey Road at the Common Ground co-working space. You’re totally welcome to visit here, though someone from the business is not guaranteed to be in the office all the time (especially when tours are operating).
